Takeup selection and specification is input using a series of windows in the takeup tab. The optional types of takeup that can be utilized for the conveyor design is accessed as "Step 1" of defining the takeup.

The type of takeup must be selected from the list. A single click on the takeup type description brings up the Select Type button.

The available takeup types are:

Fixed ("Manual in previous program versions) is a takeup with a fixed pulley where the takeup tension is manually adjusted.

Horizontal Gravity  ("auto" in previous program versions) is a type of takeup that actively moves the takeup pulley to maintain the desired belt tension. This is accomplished with a weight connected to the takeup pulley.

Vertical Gravity ("auto" in previous program versions) is a type of takeup that actively moves the takeup pulley to maintain the desired belt tension. This is accomplished with a weight connected to the takeup pulley.

Electric Winch is a take-up method where the take-up pulley is mounted on a horizontal trolley attached to a wire rope guided by a series of sheaves to an electrically (or hydraulically) powered winch.

Hydraulic is a hydraulic cylinder device that is typically off, but will turn on when the actual belt tension, as determined by hydraulic pressure, is either greater than a set high, or less that a set low. These high and low values are input in the Advanced Takeup Calculator.

The "Gravity" and "Winch Always On" takeup types are devices that actively adjusting takeup belt tension all the time the conveyor is running. The "Fixed" takeup is a device that never adjusts the takeup belt tension while running, but can manually be adjusted when the conveyor is not running. The "Winch Off/On" and "Hydraulic" are typically fixed while running but will turn on and adjust the belt tension if it exceeds the set high and low levels.

Each type shows a small example setup (shown in just a simplified 2D arrangement). To learn more click the “More Info” MoreInfobutton to expand the description and give a brief description and the pros and cons of using a specified system.
