Takeup selection and specification is input using a series of windows in the takeup tab. The estimated travel for the takeup is accessed as "Step 4" of the takeup specification procedure.

All takeup types except "fixed" have travel.

Takeup Step 4

Active carriage length is the distance the carriage can move. For a fabric belt, the default value is 2.0% of the conveyor length; for steel cord belt, it is 0.5%.

The Installed position is the location of the carriage when the conveyor is first built before permanent stretching. It does not include temperature effects. The default value is 10% of the active carriage length.

Permanent stretch is defined as the amount of stretch (input as a % of the total belt length on the conveyor) that might be expected during initial break-in of a new belt on a conveyor.  Default values for permanent stretch vary depending on carcass construction (steel cord vs fabric).  Input values for permanent stretch will effect carriage travel requirement estimates.

The position will be changed depending on the ambient temperature and most notably the permanent stretching of the belt as it ages.

The graph below shows the extent of the takeup travel during starting, stopping and running cases. The user can model the takeup travel under different conditions such as before and after the permanent stretch to see if the existing setup is going to be acceptable for all cases.

If Dynamic Analyst is run on the currently selected case and there is data for the stop and start cases the data will populate below the Belt Analyst data for comparison.
