The areas of resistance in the feeder section are:

•Shear resistance of the material.

•Acceleration of the material onto the belt.

•Elevation (lift) of the material.

•Skirtboard friction, both in the hopper zone and the extended section after it.

•Idler/Impact bed friction, both in the hopper zone and the extended section after it.
